Nanouk (aka Natalie Koller) born and raised in Miami Beach Florida, is a first-generation Czechoslovakian-American, and claims to be part Latina by association. Her creative passion began at an early age. Experimenting with crayon and color-penciled drawings led to painting her first abstract work at age 12. Since then, her main medium continues to be acrylic and she wants to collaborate more with other visual artists with mixed media techniques.  As a self-taught abstract expressionist artist, Nanouk’s work conveys the passionate intensity of her realities and fantasies. Her abstract portraits and paintings communicate raw emotions in colorful, provocative patterns and images.

The Alien Lovers series began in 2005 and continues to further develop throughout the years. Her work displays aliens, extraterrestrial and foreign creatures, serving as a metaphor for relationships. The Alien Lovers series shares the concept of representing Eros as erotic love, Philos as brotherly/sisterly love, and Agape as divine, unconditional love.  Within the series, Nanouk paints these three themes: alien lovers (romantic), alien love (platonic), and alien portraits (self-love). She started this series to open her heart more and develop a deeper vulnerability of the raw and natural beauty of connection with self and others.

Nanouk paints body, bonding, and beauty; when all aligned creates the foundation of spirituality. 

She enters into her painting through a stream of consciousness; Colors engulf her canvas where emotions can flow freely.

“There are no uncertainties once I’m in my true emotions,” says Nanouk. “I immerse myself in passionate, expressive bold and provocative themes and colors. My work aims to express the power of relationships as a ‘foreign’ and ‘alien’ love that cannot be replicated or replaced but deeply and dearly felt within ones being. This series takes you on a journey through the three forms of love: Eros, Philos, and Agape where I wish to express love as an emotional and spiritual adventure.”
